MALHARI – THE BOLLYWOOD DANCE BATTLE

Group Dance Event

From Japan ka Joota to London ka Thumka! Bollywood has made us fall in love with it’s dhinchak tunes, hatke moves and paisa wasool entertainment, entertainment and entertainment!! Take more chances and dance more dances as you let the energy and zeal of your performance set the stage ablaze and make the lights tremble, the impact reverberating throughout. Conquer the dance floor and mesmerize the audience with sizzling moves this year, only at Zest 2017.

Team Size:

participants- 7 to 15 members
volunteers (helpers) : not more than 2 allowed (excluding team instructor/ non performer choreographer if any)

Registration rules-

1. Pre online registration is compulsory for all the interested teams.
2. More than 1 team is allowed to register from a college.

General Rules-

1. Exceeding the limit of participants and volunteers will strictly lead to disqualification.
2. There will be total 3 rounds in this event.
3. The event comprises of eliminations followed by finals.
4. Decision of judges will be final and binding in all the 3 rounds.

DAY 1

Round 1 : Elimination Round

1. Every Team has to depict the theme "BOLLYWOOD" and will be judged on the basis of their own prepared sequence.
2. Fusion of songs and voiceovers is allowed.
3. Time limit of the song – minimum :4 mins
             maximum: 6 mins.
4. All the teams will be given an additional 1 min for pre performance setup and post performance stage clearance.
5. Minimum 7 dancers from the group must be present on the stage throughout the performance.
6. Handling props are allowed [use of heavy props, sharp items, flame, fluid, powder, glitters is strictly prohibited]
7. Prior disclosure and information of the prop must be given to the manager and coordinator of the event. [prior to the beginning of Zest’17 Day 1]
8. Negative marking will be done on exceeding the time limit of the song [ -1 mark per 5 seconds]
9. Weightage will be given for the costumes, music, choreography, coordination and x- factor.
10. Vulgarity and obscenity at any point is strictly not allowed. It can lead to immediate disqualification. Songs to be chosen accordingly.
11. Teams have to bring their own cd and pendrive with only performance track in it. Mobile phones/ audio cassettes are not allowed. Song must be in audio format < .mp3 >
12. Teams will not be given any space or rooms for practice and wearing of costumes in this round. Teams have to come pre prepared.
13. Qualified teams will go in next round.

DAY 2

Final Round 1: Showcase Round

1. Selected teams from Round 1 have to perform the same performance performed in elimination round. This performance is subject to judgement again.
2. All the rules of elimination rounds will be followed as it is.
3. Teams cannot change their tracks and team members.
4. All the selected teams will be alloted practice and changing rooms on Day 2.
5. Time for stage marking will be provided (* this rule is subject to change at last moment depending upon the circumstances. College and event authorities cannot be questioned or held for the same*)

Final Round 2 : Legends of Bollywood (on the spot)

1. On the spot character and 1 minute 30 seconds music will be provided to all the teams.
2. Characters will be allotted through “lots” at the end of the final round.
3. 20 minutes will be provided to each team for preparation ( time will start from the moment team leader gets the song)
4. No props allowed in this round.
5. Total number of participants performing in this round will be 7 from each team.
6. Weightage will be given to better portrayal of character given, creativity, spontaneity and expressions.
