STREET PLAY

A loud and larger than life exchange of ideologies, with drama full of Humour and Zeal. Street Plays is carried out to propagate social and political messages among the masses, amidst the direct, intimate and effective means of theatre by means of shouts, chants, drums and catchy songs.


Rules and regulations:
  1. Time Limit: 15-18 minutes.
  2. Team Limit:10-15
  3. Submit a PDF version/a 2 min video of your script to Streetplay@zestxaviers.in
  4. Subject of mail Zest 2017 Script.
  5. The play must EXACTLY follow the script sent at the time for the registration. Any deviations without prior approval of the Coordinator will result in disqualification.
  6. Points will be deducted for vulgarity.
  7. Use of microphones, lights and make up is not allowed.
  8. No props will be provided. Teams may use props if they want, for which prior permission from the Coordinator is necessary. Negative points for the usage of props without permission. (Any item that is not a part of clothing is a prop. Also, an item of clothing will be considered a prop if it is moved from its initial position during the performance.)
  9. Teams must arrive at the venue 45 minutes before the event starts.
  10. The play must be in Hindi.
  11. Maximum of two entries per college is allowed.
  12. Negative points for exceeding the time limit. An introduction of participants is necessary after the play but not included in the time limit.

    STAGE PLAY

    Life is a stage...... Let’s play our role in the best way we can!


    The stage is ready for you all. Lights fade in, curtains are up. Amidst the drum rolls, swaying swords, moving words, blazing lights, you have to capture the audience with your gestures so subtle and emotions so strong, definitely not as lovely as it sounds. This is a tremendous opportunity to showcase your talent.

    Rules and regulations:
    1. For elimination round, teams have to send their final script at stageplay@zestxaviers.in
    2. We provide you with privilege of showcasing your talent without any restrictions regarding the theme.
    3. The play must exactly follow the script sent at the time of pre-registration. Any deviations without prior approval of the Event Coordinators will result in disqualification.
    4. The play should be in Hindi or English.
    5. Participants should bring their pen drives, CD (.mp3 format) along with them and are expected to appoint someone to sit operate it (if required) during the performance.
    6. Point will be deducted for vulgarity. It is insisted that scripts should avoid abusive and offensive language.
    7. Props may be provided but are subject to availability.
    8. Lighting of candles, matches or cigarettes on stage is NOT allowed and will result in disqualification.
    9. Time limit: 25-35 minutes. Not adhering to the time limit will result in negative points.
    10. Maximum number of participants – 20(including Backstage volunteers). Backstage helpers should not exceed 4.
    11. Rehearsal slots will be provided for quick stage familiarization.
    12. The decision of the judges will be final and binding.
    13. Send the synopsis of the script.

    STAND UP COMEDY

    Yes, we know the name belongs to a legend.
    Late 80’s saw the rise of an era of standup comedians after ‘Johnny Lever’ performed in a charity show called "Hope 86", in front of the whole Hindi film industry as a filler and was loved by audience. His talent was recognized and he paved the road for upcoming artists and shows like ‘The Great Indian Laughter Challenge’.
    We at Xavier’s believe that given the right platform, talent will flourish. With that as our aim, we bring forth to you – ‘Mr. Bean’. Standup comedy competition where we bring to you the finest comedians from the colleges in India. If you’re the funny one in your group or have the wits and words to tickle our funny bone, come put your metal to test at ‘Zest’17’ where all legends share one stage.



    Rules and regulations:
  • Participants can enroll as an individual or in a team of two.
  • Event will be in 2 rounds, Elimination and final. (according to the number of entries)
  • Time slot: - Elimination: 5 minutes (2 mins: self and 3 mins: according to theme of Zest’ 17) Final: 4-5 minutes.
  • Pre-registration will be given priority. On-the-spot registrations depends on the availability of slots.
  • Use of props is allowed, brought in by the participant himself. The organizers hold the discretion of allowing it on stage.
  • Both Hindi and English are allowed at the discretion of the participant.
  • Decisions taken by the judge are absolute and binding.
  • Profanity and Obscenity are discouraged. Subtlety will go a long way. Abusing will be a one-way ticket to elimination.
  • Organizers will not be responsible if you are unable to show up on time and miss your slot.
  • Rules may be subject to change.


  • Round 1 :Participants have to get a pre-prepared script for their talk, in which they have to inculcate the theme of ZEST ‘17.

    FASHION SHOW

    Fashion is primitive in its insistence on exhibitionism, which withers in isolation. The catwalk fashion show with its incandescent hype is its apotheosis. A ritualized gathering of connoisseurs and the spoilte at a spotlit parade of snazzy pulchritude, it is an industrialized version of the pagan festivals of renewal. At the end of each seasonal display, a priesthood is enjoined to carry news of the omens to the masses. With that being said, let's get acquainted with the rules.

    Team Size:

    12 – 20 members (Including participants, choreographer and coordinator)



    Rules and regulations:
  • More than one entry per college is allowed.
  • Time duration:minimum-12min.
        maximum:15min.
  • Negative marking will be done if participants exceed the time limit.
  • Theme selection is open to the team.
  • A green room will be provided for the changing purpose.
  • Teams are to carry their tracks in a pen drive & CD'S.
  • Vulgarity is strongly prohibited. Any form of obscenity will lead to disqualification of the team from the contest.
  • Use of cigarettes, fire, alcohol or any unfair means is strongly prohibited.
  • Teams will be judged on costumes, theme, walking stance and attitude.
  • Decision of the judges will be final and binding.
  • There will be an online registration form.
  • It's compulsory for all the participants to carry their college ID cards .
  • Participants should reports at least 2 hours before the event starts.
