Solo Singing

ZEST-2017 brings you "Pitch Perfect", a solo singing competition. Let's see how many of us are ready to strike the right cords.



Rules and regulations:

  1. ROUND 1 – Preliminary Round
    • Two Categories: Hindi and English.
    • Participants have to submit their audio recording (.mp3 or .mp4 format) of 2-3 minutes on website ( pitchperfect@zestxaviers.in ) by 11th January 2017. Selected candidates will be intimated by us.
    • Use of vulgar language may lead to disqualification.
    • Both the categories will be judged separately.


  2. ROUND 2 – Final Round
    • Two Categories: Hindi and English.
    • Maximum time limit for the song would be 5 minutes including stage setup.
    • Participants can bring only one instrumentalist or instrument.
    • Only the vocalist/singer will be judged and not the instrumentalists.
    • Karaoke is allowed.
    • Use of vulgar language may lead to disqualification.
    • Both the categories will be judged separately.
    • Decision of the judges will be considered as final.

Battle of Bands

The only kind of “band bajana” we believe in. If your audience can’t stop hooting, head-banging, or singing along as soon as you drop your music on the stage, then your place here is set. So set up your drums and tune in your guitars, for this is your time to rock, and you have to ensure that there is no place for quiet.
So, band bajana hai?



Rules and regulations:
  1. Team Size: 3 to 8
  2. Participants need to get their own gear (Guitars, Keys, Processors).
  3. Participants need to send one video for online audition for prelims on bandcubator@zestxaviers.in
  4. Microphones and Drum kit will be provided by the college.
  5. Obscenity (at the discretion of the judges) and foul language of any kind is not allowed and will lead to immediate disqualification.
  6. The time limit is to be followed strictly. Each band will have 15 minutes of total stage time, including set up time. Sound will be cut if the time limit is exceeded.
  7. There should be a minimum of 3 and maximum of 8 performing members in the band.
  8. Judge's decision will be final and binding.
  9. The decision of the organizers regarding the final line-up would be final.

Guitar Play

It has been rightly said by someone, I never practice my guitar from time to time, I just open my case and throw in a raw piece of meat. The problem with life is there is no background music, you’ve got to go solo and play the best music of your life. With that being said, Zest 2017 brings to you RIFF, a solo guitar-play competition for both electric and acoustic guitarists. So guys, take the stage and show us what you got!



Registration:
  1. INDIVIDUAL PARTICIPATION.
  2. ON THE SPOT REGISTRATIONS ALLOWED


Rules and regulations:
  1. Participants are required to bring their own guitars and patches/pedals/processors for the event.


Round 1
  1. In the preliminary round, each participant will have 10 minutes on stage, including time for tuning, sound check, etc.
  2. A basic sound setup will be provided.
  3. Backing tracks will be permitted in the preliminary round ONLY.


Round 2
  1. The second round will be the semi-final round which will be a face-off style event.
  2. 4 guitarists will be selected and they will be paired randomly. Therefore, 2 face-offs will take place.


Round 3
  1. The final round will again be a face-off style event that will take place between the winners of the semi-final rounds.

Drum Smash


Solo Drum Play

This is an exciting challenge for all drummers to exhibit their skill and expertise on the instrument that they love. It is a chance to play your dream solo, to jam on a bass line and make your own groves, to battle one-on-one against other drummers. An open event for all with a sense of beat and passion for drumming.



Individual Event
Registration

Online, as well as on-spot registrations are allowed.



Rules and regulations:

This event will take place in 3 rounds

Round 1
Elimination round : Drummers will be given 90 seconds to play a solo of their choice.
Round 2
In this round, the participant will jam on a track/bass line played to them on the spot. The entry to round 3 will be solely based on round 2’s performance.
Round 3
This round will be the dual round or face off round. In this round, two participants at a time will face off against each other over the drums. The winner would be decided by the judge.
  • The drum set will be provided by the college itself. Participants are advised to get their own drum-sticks for their convenience.
  • This competition will be judged by professional artists.
  • If any of the participant damages any property, then they will have to bear it.
  • The decision of the judge and the organisation will be final and absolutely binding.
  • Weightage will be given to better portrayal of creativity and spontaneity.

    THE GAME OF THROAT


    Beat Boxing

    “ Your heart is just a beatbox , For the song of your life. Tighten up your harmonies and get ready for an amazing ride.“

    Do you have the art of mimicking drum machines? Do your chords can blind the audiences to their seats? Then this is the platform to showcase your uniqueness and thrill the audience with your voice. ZEST 2017 for the very first time presents before you the fifth element of hip-hop-Beat Boxing.
    Beatboxing is a form of vocal percussion primarily involving the art of mimicking drum machines using one’s mouth, lips, tongue and voice. So prove that you’ve got a beat better than anyone else’s at Zest 2017’s battle of the beat!





    REGISTRATION RULES
    1. Online registration and on-the-spot registration is allowed for interested participants.
    2. More than 1 participant is allowed to register from a college.


    Rules and regulations:
    1. It is an individual event.
    2. No musical instruments/tools are allowed
    3. All sounds that are made out of human vocal organs are approved.
    4. Any dangerous physical contact on stage will result in immediate expulsion of the participant.
    5. The event comprises of two rounds- eliminations followed by finals. (This rule is prior to change depending upon the participation.)
    6. Decision of the judges will be final and binding in all the rounds.


    ROUND 1 : ELIMINATION ROUND
    1. Each participant will be given maximum 3 minutes to perform (including sound check)
    2. In case participant exceeds the time limit, negative marking will be done.
    3. Qualified participants will go to the next round.


    ROUND 2: FACE OFF
    1. Selected finalists will qualify for the face-off round.
    2. Participants will be divided in groups of 2 for the face offs.
    3. Each competitor will get 30 seconds to perform in face off twice. (First A then B- then again A then B) Face offs will be continued till we get the FINAL WINNER.
    4. In case of a tie, the tie-breaker round will be introduced.

    Hello there,
    We are ZEST.Management facility to promote artists who have been waiting for an opportunity to showcase their talent.
    So that’s what this competition is all about. DJ’s need to submit their MIXTAPES, out of which the management would select a number of people who would proceed to the further rounds of the competition, ending up with finals in our very own music event with a stage setup and crowd ready to party on your beats.
    8 lucky and talented DJ’s would be selected for the finals. If you control the console you control the crowd. Of course there are exciting prizes for the winner and the runner up’s. So hurry up DJ’ wish you all a very Good Luck!!!


    Rules and regulations:
    1. The participants need to submit a Non-stop MIXTAPE of 6 tracks (Duration of 7-8 minutes) of their choice (of any genre) at electroblitz@zestxaviers.in latest by 10th Jan 2017.
    2. On the basis of entries received, the top 8 participants will be selected for the event.
    3. On stage time will be 12 minutes (Including set up time). If the time limit exceeds Nagative mark will be given.
    4. Participants can use any genre of their choice.
    5. No recorded set will be allowed.
    6. No participant is allowed to bring his/her own console.
