    BOL BABY BOL

    JAM

Just-A-Minute (or JAM) is all about the control of the mind over the mouth. Can you make it through sixty seconds of non-stop talking without hesitation, repetition, or deviation? Or will the sheer pressure make you crumble and have your competitors pounce on you in an instant?

    Individual
  • A Jammer scores a point for making a correct challenge against whoever is speaking, while the speaker gets a point if the challenge is deemed incorrect. A player who makes a correct challenge takes over the subject for the remainder of the minute, or, until he or she is correctly challenged.

  • A speaker also scores a point if they are the person speaking when the 60 seconds expire.
  • Round 1

Groups of 8 go through a JAM session each on different topics. Winner from each session qualifies for the final round.

    Round 2

8 participants go through a JAM session on a given topic.

    Judging Criteria
    1. The Jammers are challenged to speak for one minute on a given subject without Interjections. Interjections are classified as:
    2. Repetition of any word or phrase. Challenges based on very common words such as ‘and’ are generally rejected except in extreme cases of repetition. Words contained on the subject cards can be repeated any number of times.

Hesitation is watched very strictly: a momentary pause before continuation of the subject can give rise toa successful challenge, as can tripping over words.

Deviation from the subject, which has alsobeen interpreted as deviating from the English language as we know it and deviation from grammar as we understand it.

    3. An extra point is awarded when a speaker speaks for the entire minute without being challenged.
    4. Penalties
    5. Speaking out of turn

      Early/Late start

      Repetition

Anything that judges classify as time wasting tactics
